Dr. Amit Patel graduated from King’s College London in 2001. He became a member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2005. He undertook postgraduate training in Respiratory and General (Internal) Medicine in London at some of the country’s leading hospitals including King’s College Hospital, St Thomas’s Hospital and the Royal Brompton Hospital. During his higher specialist training he went on to study for a MD in the Division of Asthma, Allergy and Lung Biology within King’s College London. His research interest is in developing novel techniques in the assessment of interstitial lung diseases and sarcoidosis. He had also collaborated in research on the management of cough. His work is published in high impact factor international journals and he is a collaborator on projects both nationally and internationally. His work has been presented at major symposia in North America, Europe and the UK. Dr Patel also acts as a peer reviewer of other researcher’s work for major scientific journals.

Dr. Patel works as a full time Consultant Respiratory Physician at King’s College Hospital in London where he specialises in all aspects of Respiratory Medicine. This includes the investigation and management of cough, COPD, asthma, pneumonia, lung cancer, pleural disease, respiratory failure, sleep apnoea, sarcoidosis, interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis and breathlessness of unknown cause. He was previously a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Whittington Health. Dr. Patel lectures on areas of Respiratory medicine and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and has postgraduate qualifications in education. He is a member of various professional and specialist bodies, and continues to engage in research in Respiratory medicine. He is married with two young daughters.
